Snapstreaks are a fun way to compete with friends on Snapchat. To maintain a Snapstreak, you must send a Snap to each other every day within 24 hours. If you miss a day, your streak will be reset.
Snapchat will warn you when your streak is about to expire. However, there may be times when you can’t send a Snap for a day. If this happens, you can still get your streak back by following these steps:
Things To Know Before Restoring Streak

To maintain a Snapstreak, you and your friend must both send Snaps to each other every day within 24 hours. Here are the specific requirements:
- Send a Snap: A Snap is a photo or video message that is sent on Snapchat. Messages from Memories will not count towards your Snapstreak.
- Receive a Snap: You must also receive a Snap from your friend within 24 hours of sending your Snap.
- Send and Receive Snaps from the Same Person: You cannot send a Snap to a group chat and expect it to count towards your Snapstreak. You must send and receive Snaps from the same person.
- Take Screenshots: If you are having trouble with your Snapstreak, you can take screenshots of your Snaps and save them to your phone’s Gallery. This will help you prove that you sent and received Snaps on the correct days.
How to Get a Streak Back on Snapchat
Snapstreaks can end for a number of reasons, both intentional and unintentional. If you believe that your Snapstreak ended by mistake, you can follow these steps to try to get it back:
Open Snapchat and log in with your account information.

Tap Settings.

Towards the bottom, go to the Supports section.

Tap I Need Help, then Snapstreaks.

From the What if my Snapstreak has gone? option, choose Let us know.

Select My Snapstreaks disappeared.

Fill in the form; include as much information as possible.

Hit Send to submit your form.

If the hourglass emoji showed up before the end of your streak, Snapchat probably won’t be able to help. But in the What information should we know section of the form, you can make a stronger case for getting it back.
Or from Snapchat support page:
Go to Snapchat Support.
Select Contact Us.

Beneath the How can we help section, choose My Snapstreaks have disappeared.

Fill in the form, including as many details as possible.

Tap Send to submit.

Snapchat may not be able to help you if you saw the hourglass emoji before your streak ended. The hourglass emoji is a warning that your streak is about to end, and if you saw it and didn’t send a Snap to your friend, Snapchat may not consider it a valid reason to restore your streak.
Frequently Asked Questions
In our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), we answer most of your questions about Snapstreaks than just how to get your streak back.
How do Streaks work?
When you and a friend send direct snaps (not chat) every 24 hours for more than three days in a row, you have a “streak.” When you reach a certain number of streaks in a row, you’ll get these unique emojis:
- The fire emoji is a sign that you are on a Snapstreak. It will show up after three days.
- The 100 emoji is a sign that shows up after 100 days in a row of being on a Snapstreak.
- The mountain emoji: This award is a mystery because Snapchat hasn’t said what it takes to get it.
- People who use Snapchat say they’ve seen it at some point during a very long streak.
- All of the emojis are shown next to your Snapstreak partner’s name, along with the number of streak days. If you don’t do it one day, it will go back to zero.
During your Snapstreak, you’ll keep seeing different emojis. Watch out for the hourglass emoji because it means your Snapstreak is about to end. Send a snap to your friend or ask them to send one to you if you want to keep going.
What doesn’t count toward a Snapstreak?
Your Snapstreak won’t count the following five kinds of interactions:
- Chatting: If you and your Snapstreak partner talk through text, it won’t count toward your streak.
- Group chats: Snaps sent to a group chat won’t count toward your Snapstreak. Snaps have to be sent one at a time. Even if your friend watches your daily story recording, it won’t count toward your Snapstreak.
- Spectacles: If you use Snapchat Spectacles to send content to a friend on your Snapstreak, it won’t add to your streak.
- Memories: Sharing memories with a friend on your streak will not count as interaction on Snapstreak.
Keep things simple to keep your Snapstreak going. Only send photos or videos to each other.
Is there a Snapchat support number that I can call?
Snapchat doesn’t have a phone number for help, which is a shame. You’ll need to contact them through their “Contact Us” page to get answers to questions and fix problems.
Will Snapchat Support help me get my Snapstreak back?
It all depends on why you lost your Snapstreak and if your claim is valid or not. But many people have been able to get their Snapstreak back by following the steps above. If you lost your Snapstreak because of no fault of your own, the company is likely to give it back to you.
Should I tell Snapchat that I did see the hourglass timer?
This is a common question, and from what we’ve seen, the best thing to do when filling out the questionnaire is to tell the company the truth. For example, if you see the hourglass icon but can’t send a Snap because you don’t have cell service or the app is broken, you should let Snapchat know.
Snapstreaking is a feature on Snapchat that encourages users to send Snaps to each other every day. When two users have a Snapstreak, they are shown a number of consecutive Snaps and receive reminders if a Snap hasn’t been sent in 24 hours.
Snapstreaks can be a lot of fun and can even be competitive. However, even if you and your partner are on your A-game, things like connection problems can happen that are out of your control and cause Snapchat to end your streak.
If you miss a Snap and neither of you did anything wrong, you can ask Snapchat to bring back your streak. Snapchat may be able to restore your streak if you can provide evidence that you sent a Snap to your friend on the day that your streak ended.
